Perfect Pockets
You can really make your jeans look unique by changing the pockets:
Have fun with different shapes & sizes of back pocket, the shape & placement of a back pocket can alter the way your bum looks, so it’s worth having a play around.
Likewise, you can really personalise your jeans with the topstitching detail on the back pocket. We’ve provided 4 options in the class but you can really let your creativity flow with this by adding your initials or something personal to you, especially if you have embroidery skills or have an embroidery machine. It may be an idea to stabilise with interfacing 1st to ensure the fabric doesn’t stretch, particularly with any denim with elastane. Here’s a link to some inspiration:
Use carbon paper & a tracing wheel to transfer your design onto the pocket
You can change the shape of the front pockets too - it’s quite a simple process to change the curved pockets to a slanted pocket, just remember to change to lining pattern piece too.
Or add faux patch pockets by topstitching around the front pocket
Or add real patch pockets - or cargo or utility pockets if you are making a looser style of jeans
Add a label - sew it onto the pocket, or catch it into the side of the pocket, a la Levis. You can also buy faux leather labels that are similar to RTW labels from The Specky Seamstress
